| HO ComArrow Intercity Car Kits |

These cars were originally built as Arrow I MU cars in 1968 by St. Louis Car Co. for NJDOT. They ran for ten years before mechanical problems and deliveries of newer Arrow models sidelined them again. In 1987, they were rebuilt as straight unpowered push-pull coaches and cab cars, designated 'Comet 1B' and served NJ commuters in that form into the 1990s. They were then sold to other agencies for stopgap service. In 2008, Amtrak purchased 14 cars for use in southern California services and refurbished them for intercity services. This took longer than expected and the cars didn't enter service until 2013. A few are still in service as backups or for lower capacity runs where the bilevel cars normally used are not needed. These 'ComArrow' cars are coaches only; there are no cab cars in this series.
