The iconic 6000-series EL cars were initially built from retired CSL PCC streetcars. Later cars were built new to the same design. Most were retired by the late 1980s. A few cars went to SEPTA for use on their Norristown High Speed Line as stopgaps until new equipment could be delivered in the mid 1990s. Some cars survive in museums.

The 6000s were built in two basic batches. The 6000s were built from the retired PCC cars and initially featured destination roll signs and large headlights on the cab ends. They are also identifiable by their vertical blinker doors on the sides. The later cars were in the 6200 series and had side doors curved to match the contour of the sides, and also had different window arrangements on B end. All cars were operated in semi-permanently coupled pairs.

These kits represent the early 6000 series and build a nonpowered 2-car set with wheelsets.
