These unusual design studies were an attempt during World War I to see what battle ships could be built under docking and Panama Canal limits. The last designs, IV-1 and IV-2 featured hulls nearly 1000 feet long, but still with beams of only 108 feet to allow movement through the Panama Canal. Design IV-2 featured 15 18" guns in five triple turrets. They were called Tillman designs after the senator who commissioned the studies and supported building such ships. They remained design studies and at no time were any of the designs contemplated for actual construction.
This kit is all resin and features 9 parts. The kit is based on Design IV-2 as described above. You get the hull, five 18in triple turrets, and three funnels. The rest of model can be completed using a Trumpeter Maryland or West Virginia kit. This is a great opportunity for an imaginative build!
