HO Scale LIRR MP70 Electric MU Cars

The MP70s were the first US attempt at a high-capacity commuter car for use in electric territory. The cars were designed and built in the PRR's Altoona shops for subsidiary Long Island Railroad. Though novel in design, the cars were not true bilevel cars. They were built in cab-powered and and cab-trailer configurations. They served Long Island commuters for 20 years, not being retired until after the Budd M-1s were delivered in the late 1960s/early 1970s.
